Swim Florida’s Robert Flannery Will Attend Niagara University in Fall 2021

NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker Robert Flannery of Estero, Fla. will head north for his college career after committing to Niagara University beginning in the fall of 2021.

He will join Beaumont, Texas native Keith Elgar as a member of the Eagles’ Class of 2025.

He told Swimming World:

“I am super stoked to announce my verbal commitment to further my Academic career and to swim at the Division 1 level for Niagara University! Thank you Coach Bugby for giving me the opportunity to take my talents to you.”

Primarily a breaststroker, Flannery does his club swimming with Swim Florida and most recently earned five best times at the Florida Senior Championships where his highest finish was a fifth-place showing in the 50 breast. He also finished ninth in the 100 breast at the Pembroke Pines 18&U Winter Championships and notched three lifetime bests at the Southern Zone Sectional Championships.

His best times include:

  • 50 breast – 27.99
  • 100 breast – 58.89
  • 200 breast – 2:06.81
  • 50 free – 22.25
  • 100 free – 48.79
  • 200 IM – 1:57.95

Also competing for Bishop Verot High School, Flannery raced to 11th in the 100 breast and 12th in the 200 IM as a senior at the Florida 1A State Championships. He took fourth in both of those events at the FHSAA 1A Region 2 meet as well.

Flannery would’ve placed fourth in the 200 breast, eighth in the 100 breast, and 10th in the 200 IM at the 2021 MAAC Championships where Niagara finished fourth overall.
