Susie Maroney’s Twin Dies in Accident

HONOLULU, June 16. SEAN Maroney, the twin brother of marathon swimmer Susie Maroney has died in a tragic accident in Hawaii just before midnight last Thursday.

The 27-year-old triathlete fell from a 23rd floor balcony of the Waikiki Beach Marriott Hotel Honolulu. The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office said an autopsy had failed to confirm the cause of his death.

His twin, Susie, who has been featured twice in Swimming World,was in Cuba with her fiancé filming a documentary of her swimming experiences and friendship with Cuban leader Fidel Castro. She rushed home to Sydney to be with her family when informed of the news of her brother's untimely death.

Sean, who was a close friend of world triathlon champion Chris McCormack, had been living in Hawaii for the past six months to focus on training for the Hawaiian Ironman event.

The funeral will be held in Sydney this week.
