PHOENIX, Arizona, January 12. THE Texas Longhorn women's team is in Auburn for a mid-week dual meet today. The Longhorns are coming off a big win against Georgia last weekend and could continue their unbeaten dual meet streak against the Tigers, though reigning NCAA champ Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace will give Texas' Karlee Bispo a big challenge in the sprint freestyles, and Olivia Scott, the nation's top swimmer in the 100 fly, will help Auburn in that event.
And take a look at this video of rising distance swimmer Arthur Frayler from yesterday's dual meet at Germantown Academy. Frayler swam the 500 freestyle for a very decisive win, and get this: he broke the longstanding pool record set by Fran Crippen with a 4:24.65. Crippen swam a 4:25.9 at that pool back in his high school days at Germantown about 10 years ago, and we all know the legacy that Crippen accomplished before his death in 2010. The time is very good for a dual meet swim, and sets Frayler up for a run at the independent national high school record in the 500 free, which is 4:19.32. Crippen formerly held the independent high school mark with a 4:20 and change before Will Freeman broke it in 2009. Frayler is the reigning 1500 free Pan American Games champion and is a name to watch this summer at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
