STANFORD, Calif., January 20. STANFORD University sophomore Caroline Bruce will miss the remainder of the 2005-06 season following shoulder surgery last month. Bruce is expected to return to action for the 2006-07 collegiate campaign.
Last season, Bruce swept the 100 and 200 breast as a rookie at the 2005 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. She also finished second on the Individual High Point list at the NCAAs and totaled five All-American honors. In addition, she was a five-time Pac-10 champion in her first collegiate season.
Bruce is one of only three Stanford swimmers to have competed in the Olympics prior to competing at Stanford, finishing ninth in the 200 breast at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
