NEW COMMIT: Columbine Valley, Colo. native Anna Shaw has given her verbal pledge to Stanford University beginning in the fall of 2021.

She will join Samantha Tadder, Torri Huske and Meghan Lynch, as well as diver Lauren Burch, as a member of the Cardinal’s class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“Beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and continue my academics at Stanford University. It is an absolute dream come true and I can’t thank my family, coaches and friends enough for all their support through this process. Thrilled to be a tree and join such an incredible group of people!! ?❤️”

A talented sprint freestyler, Shaw does her club swimming with University of Denver Hilltoppers and owns the Juniors cut in the 50 free with the U.S. Open standard in the 100 free. She finished sixth in the 50 free at Juniors West in December where she registered best times in the 50/100 free. Last summer, she raced to silver in the 50m free at Mount Hood Sectionals before going on to compete at Junior Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.94
  • 100 free – 49.85
  • 100 breast – 1:05.97
  • 100 fly – 56.57
  • 200 IM – 2:03.52

Also competing for Heritage High School, Shaw is a six-time Colorado State Championship finalist. She won the 50 free and was the runner-up in the 100 free as a junior while taking third in both of those events during her sophomore season at the 5A meet. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also collected gold in the 50 free at the 4A meet in her rookie campaign.

When she arrives on The Farm at the start of the 2021-22 season, Shaw will add depth to Stanford’s sprint freestyle training groups and is already at the Pac-12 scoring level in the 50 free. Under head coach Greg Meehan, the Cardinal are coming off their fourth-straight Pac-12 title and are the three-time defending National Champions.
