NEW COMMIT: The University of California, Berkeley has received a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2023 from Junior National qualifier Rob Alexy of Mendham, New Jersey.

He will join Nikolas Antoniou and Keaton Jones as a member of the Golden Bears’ Class of 2027.

His older brother, Jack Alexy, is currently a freshman on Cal’s roster.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to the University of California Berkeley! Cal has that perfect combination of world-class swimming and academic rigor that will prepare me for a life beyond my college days. I would like to thank Coaches Durden and Kreitler for providing me with this fantastic opportunity and making me a permanent member of the Cal family. I also would like to thank my family, all of my present and former coaches, teammates, training partners, and friends for forming me into the person and athlete I am today. Go Bears!!!”

Alexy does his club swimming with Greater Somerset County YMCA and placed 19th in the 100m free and 22nd in the 50m free at the Speedo Summer East Championships this past summer. Back in the spring, he finished eighth and 11th, respectively, in those two events at the TYR 18&U Cup – Richmond.

His best times include:

  • 100 free – 45.75
  • 200 free – 1:39.06
  • 500 free – 4:29.85

Currently a junior at Delbarton School, Alexy competed at the New Jersey Meet of Champions during his freshman season.

When he arrives on campus at the start of the 2023-24 season, Alexy will join his brother, Bjorn Seeliger, and Matthew Jensen in the sprint training group.
