NEW COMMIT: Sprint freestyler Kali Sayovitz of Sauk Centre, Minn. has verbally committed to Purdue University and will join the Boilermakers in the fall of 2020.

Sayovitz, who owns the Winter Juniors standard in the 100m free, swims year-round with Alexandria Swim Club and most recently recorded four top-8 finishes at Minnesota LCM Seniors this past summer. Last summer, she notched three best times at Minnesota LCM Seniors before going on to race four events at Rochester Futures.

Also competing for Sauk Centre High School, Sayovitz is a six-time Minnesota Class A State Championship finalist. She placed fourth in the 200 free and fifth in the 100 free as a junior after finishing fourth in the former event as well as seventh in the 100 fly during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so grateful to have such an amazing opportunity. Big thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. Boiler up!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.96
  • 100 free – 51.56
  • 200 free – 1:51.42

Sayovitz has made major improvements over the past two seasons, dropping two seconds in the 50 free, four in the 100 free and five in the 200 free. When she arrives in West Lafayette as a member of the class of 2024, she’ll add her talents to a sprint group that’ll be led by Jade KnueppelNatalie Myers and Greta DeCoursey.
