NEW COMMIT: Spring, Texas freestyle sprinter Caleb Duncan has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Louisville beginning in the fall of 2019.

Duncan does his club swimming with Dads Swim Club and has his U.S. Open cut in the 50 free. He capped off a successful long course season with four best times and a pair of second swims at NCSAs after finishing sixth in the 50m free at Austin Speedo Sectionals. He recorded a lifetime best in both sprint events at Juniors West last winter and was a six-time finalist at College Station Speedo Sectionals in March.

Duncan also represents Klein High School and has competed at the UIL Texas 6A State Championships the last two seasons. The NISCA All-American finished fifth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free at State during his junior season. He has made significant improvements over the last two years, shaving off 1.5 seconds in the splash-and-dash and knocking off almost three seconds in the 100.

He told Swimming World:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at the University of Louisville. I want to thank all my friends and family for helping me get to this point. I can’t wait to start my collegiate swimming career.”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.75
  • 100 free – 45.58
  • 200 free – 1:41.75
  • 100 fly – 50.54

When Duncan arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2023, he’ll join a talented sprint training group that includes Andrej Barna, Nick Albiero and Samuel Steele. Under head coach Arthur Albiero, the Cardinals finished second at last season’s ACC Championships.
