NEW COMMIT: Spokane, Wash. breaststroker Ryan Foote has declared his verbal pledge to the University of Utah beginning in the fall of 2019.

Foote swims year-round with Spokane Waves Aquatic Team and owns the Winter Nationals cut in the 100m breast. He was a three-time finalist at NCSAs this summer with his highest finish being a ninth-place showing in the 100m breast. He notched four lifetime bests at Federal Way Speedo Sectionals in March and was a five-time finalist at Washington Seniors last winter. Foote has made significant improvements over the past two seasons, shaving off four seconds from his 100 breast and knocking off 12 from his 200 breast.

He told Swimming World:

“Beyond blessed to have the opportunity to swim and study at Utah! So proud to be a Ute!”

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 57.32
  • 200 breast – 2:03.90
  • 200 IM – 1:54.28

Foote will add valuable breaststroke depth when he suits up for the Utes as a member of the class of 2023. He’ll join a training group led by Jeremy Young and Ethan Dillard and he would’ve swum in the C-final of both breaststroke distances at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships.
