Spencer Koehrn of Summit City Aquatics Hands In-State Verbal Commitment to IUPUI

NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker and IMer Spencer Koehrn of Fort Wayne, Ind. has announced his in-state verbal commitment to Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) beginning in the fall of 2021.

He will join Luke Dibley and Logan Kelly in Indianapolis as a member of the Class of 2025.

He told Swimming World:

“I am so happy to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at IUPUI. I’m so thankful for the friends, family, and coaches who have helped me get where I am today. Go jags!!”

Koehrn does his club swimming with Summit City Aquatics and owns the Junior National cut in both breaststroke events. He achieved six best times at the Cardinal Christmas Classic in December and finaled in four events at Indianapolis Sectionals in 2019. Last summer, he finaled in both IM events at Greensboro Futures.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 56.85
  • 200 breast – 2:04.51
  • 200 IM – 1:50.89
  • 400 IM – 4:01.45

Also competing for Homestead High School, Koehrn has competed at the Indiana State Championships the past two years. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed eighth in the 100 breast and 10th in the 200 IM during his junior season.

Under head coach Matt Bos, the Jaguars finished fourth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Horizon League Championships.
