Spanish Age Group Record Holder Jose Rodriguez Gives 2027 Verbal to Princeton

NEW COMMIT: Princeton University has received a new verbal commitment* for Fall 2027 from Jose Enrique Rodriguez Ramirez out of Madrid, Spain. Rodriguez specializes in breaststroke and IM.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am thrilled and proud to share that I have verbally committed to the admissions process at Princeton University. I am extremely grateful to my family, friends, coaches and mentors in Mexico, Spain and the UK for their continued support. Thank you to coaches Matt, Mia and Zach for this opportunity. I am very excited for what’s ahead. Go Tigers!!”

Rodriguez trains year-round with Real Canoe Natación Club. He is a national champion in both Spain and Great Britain. He also holds Spanish national records in breaststroke across several age groups, in both long course meters and short course meters.

Most recently, Rodriguez competed at the Campeonato de España Primavera in mid-March where he set best times in all of his events and finished first in the 50m breast, 200m IM and 400m IM.

In LCM, his best times include:

  • 50m breast – 28.85
  • 100m breast – 1:02.36
  • 200m breast – 2:15.74
  • 200m IM – 2:03.33
  • 400m IM – 4:28.91

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 50 breast – 25.09
  • 100 breast – 53.71
  • 200 breast – 1:57.35
  • 200 IM – 1:46.16
  • 400 IM – 3:53.77

Rodriguez is a great pickup for the Tigers. His best times (converted to yards) would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM at the 2026 Ivy League Championships while his top time in the 400 IM would’ve placed in the C-final.
