Spain Announces Four Swimmer Team for 2016 SC Worlds
The Royal Spanish Swimming Federation, Real Federación Española de Natación (RFEN), has announced a four swimmer team for the upcoming 2016 FINA SC World Championships.
The Championships, which will run from December 6-11, will be held in Windsor, Canada.
Spain’s team will be led by coaches José Del Castillo and Frédéric Vergnoux, along with Montserrat Bellver (doctor), Paul Moreno (physiotherapist), and Andrew Roig (biochemist).
The team will be headlined by Olympic gold medalist Mireia Belmonte whose most recent accomplishments include securing gold in the 200 fly at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Joining Belmonte on the team will be Miguel Ortiz-Cañavate, Joan Lluis Pons and Jessica Vall.
Belmonte will swim a range of events including the 200 fly, both the 200 and 400 IM, plus the 400 and 800 free, while Vall will handle the entirety of the breaststroke races for the women. Ortiz will make appearances in the 50 back, 100 back, 50 free, and 50 fly, and Ramon will handle the 200 fly, 200 and 400 IM, and the 200 back.
