Southern Connecticut State to Dedicate Scoreboard to Late Tim Quill

Southern Connecticut State University will dedicate its scoreboard in honor of long-time swim coach Tim Quill this weekend.

The scoreboard at the Bruce Hutchinson Natatorium will be named in honor of the late coach as part of the school’s homecoming weekend.

Quill passed away on Feb. 11 at age 58. He led SCSU’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving team for 28 years, leading 34 Northeast 10 Championships. He mentored 121 NCAA All-Americans and 13 NCAA Division II champions, named NE10 Coach of the Year on 28 occasions.

Quill coached one of the best Division II swimmers in history in Ben Michaelson. His passing came during championships season for SCSU in 2026, and the Owls went on to add another championship after his passing as a way to celebrate his memory.

The ceremony at the Moore Field House is open to the public and will be livestreamed on the SCSU Athletics YouTube channel. It comes ahead of the annual alumni meet on Saturday morning.
