South Dakota State Receives Commitment from Lane Four Aquatics’ Zoey Ahrens
NEW COMMIT: Bettendorf, Iowa native Zoey Ahrens has announced her commitment to South Dakota State University and will suit up for the Jackrabbits as a member of the class of 2024.
A talented freestyler, Ahrens does her club swimming with Lane Four Aquatics and capped off her summer season with a seventh-place finish and a best time in the 800m free at the Iowa LCM Championships. Also competing for Bettendorf High School, Ahrens placed 10th in the 500 free at the IGHSAU State Championships as a senior after placing 11th in that event during her junior season.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m so excited to finally announce my commitment to swim at South Dakota State University! I chose SDSU because the campus is perfect, the team and coaches are so welcoming, and I know it is a place I can grow and improve academically and athletically. Go Jackrabbits!”
Her best times include:
- 100 free – 55.67
- 200 free – 1:56.20
- 500 free – 5:08.93
- 1000 free – 10:47.48
- 1650 free – 18:10.48
Ahrens will make an immediate impact in the Jackrabbits’ freestyle group when she arrives on campus in the fall of 2020. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 500 free at the 2019 Summit League Championships where South Dakota State finished fourth overall in the team standings.
