SMU Lands 2027 Verbal Pledge from Winter Juniors Qualifier Annabelle Nawrocki
NEW COMMIT: Southern Methodist University has landed a verbal commitment for Fall 2027 from Annabelle Nawrocki of Aurora, Illinois. She is a Winter Juniors qualifier who excels in backstroke and freestyle.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Southern Methodist University! I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches Todd Capen and Glenn Brown for supporting me throughout this process. A special thanks to Coaches Ozzie, Alice, and Mike for giving me this opportunity! PONY UP!”
Nawrocki trains year-round with Academy Bullets Swim Club. She earned two best times at Juniors West in December before going on to final in two events at Illinois Seniors earlier this month. Last summer, she had three top-14 finishes at NCSA Summer Championships highlighted by a 10th-place showing in the 100m back.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 55.12
- 200 back – 2:01.03
- 50 free – 23.95
- 100 free – 51.21
- 200 free – 1:50.47
Currently a junior at Rosary High School, Nawrocki finished ninth in the 200 free and 10th in the 100 back at the 2025 Illinois State Championships while helping her 4×50 free relay win the state title. The NISCA All-American collected bronze in the 100 back at the state meet during her sophomore year.
The Mustangs compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
