NEW COMMIT: U.S. Open qualifier Allison Henry has given her verbal intention to continue her academic and swimming career at the University of Nebraska beginning in the fall of 2020.

Primarily a breaststroker and IMer, Henry swims year-round with NRG Swimming and most recently placed 20th in the 400m IM at Junior Nationals this past summer after winning the 200m breast at Rutgers Sectionals. She raced four events at Winter Nationals in December before going on to earn gold in the 400 IM at TYR Junior Nationals in March.

Also competing for Archbishop Ryan High School, the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is a four-time Pennsylvania 3A State Championship finalist. Henry placed third in the 100 breast and fifth in the 200 free as a junior after racing to sixth in the 100 breast and 12th in the 100 fly during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am super excited to let go of the balloons, chant GO BIG RED with fellow Huskers, and kick off the next chapter of my academic and swimming career at the University of Nebraska! Once I stepped onto campus, the feeling was like no other! Thank you fellow future husker teammates and coaches for welcoming me into this incredible family. And most especially, thank you to my family, friends, teammates, coaches, and teachers for supporting me in order for me to be successful.”

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 29.69
  • 100 breast – 1:02.24
  • 200 breast – 2:15.80
  • 200 IM – 2:05.64
  • 400 IM – 4:22.50

Henry is a major pickup for the Huskers as her best times already rank near the top of their lineup. She would’ve placed in the C-final of the 200 breast at the 2019 Big Ten Championships, and is just shy of scoring range in three other events. She’ll join Sarah Barton next fall as a member of the class of 2024.
