SEC Weekly Honors: Jack Dahlgren, Sarah Thompson Lead Honorees

The SEC announced its weekly swimming and diving honors.

SEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Jack Dahlgren, Missouri

Missouri’s Jack Dahlgren, a senior from Victoria, Minn., claimed four podium finishes in the tri-dual meet against No. 6 Michigan and Purdue. Dahlgren swept the backstroke events, posting the sixth fastest time in the nation in the 100 (46.58) and the fastest time in the nation in the 200 (1:40.97). He also led off the winning 400 free relay with his 100 free split of 42.76, the fastest time in the nation. Dahlgren led off the 200 medley relay squad that finished second with his 50 back time of 21.78, the ninth fastest time in the nation.

 

SEC Men’s Diver of the Week: Kurtis Mathews, Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s Kurtis Mathews, a senior from Sydney, Australia, swept the springboard events in the Aggies’ win over the TCU Frogs. Mathews took first place in the 1-meter with a final score of 435.00, and captured the top spot in the 3-meter with a score of 431.93.

 

SEC Men’s Freshman of the Week: Grant Bochenski, Missouri

Missouri’s Grant Bochenski, a freshman from Naperville, Ill., earned four podium finishes in the tri-dual meet against No. 6 Michigan and Purdue. Bochenski recorded an NCAA B-cut time in the 100 back of 47.62, the 19th fastest time in the nation. He also swam the third leg of the winning 400 free relay (2:53.23/43.29), for the third best relay time in the nation. Bochenski led off the 200 medley relay that took third place with the 23rd best time in the nation in the 50 back (1:27.17/22.13) and took third place in the 100 free with a time of 44.42.

 

SEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Sarah Thompson, Missouri

Missouri’s Sarah Thompson, a fifth-year senior from Collierville, Tenn., won two individual events in the tri-dual meet against No. 4 Michigan and Purdue. Thompson recorded NCAA B-cut times to win the 50 free (22.08 – fifth fastest time in the nation) and the 100 fly (52.16 – third fastest time in the nation). She swam the third leg of the 200 medley relay (1:38.29) and the second leg of the 400 free relay (3:17.45), which posted the sixth fastest relay time in the nation.

SEC Women’s Diver of the Week: Aimee Wilson, Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s Aimee Wilson, a senior from Calgary, Alberta, took first place in both springboard events against TCU. Wilson registered a season-high score of 363.08 on the 1-meter along with a final score of  328.28 on the 3-meter.

 

SEC Women’s Freshman of the Week: Avery Wiseman, Alabama

Alabama’s Avery Wiseman, a freshman from Drayton Valley, Alberta, Canada, won both breaststroke events in the win over LSU. Wiseman posted NCAA B-cut times in the 100 breaststroke of 1:01.18 (19th fastest time in the nation) and the 200 breaststroke of 2:11.44 (12th fastest time in the nation). She also swam the second leg of the first-place 200 medley relay (1:38.70/27.75).
