Scotland Long Course Nationals: Mercedes Peris, Rafael Munoz Post Strong Times
GLASGOW, Scotland, June 30. THE first night of action is in the books at the Scotland Long Course Nationals held in Glasgow.
Mercedes Peris turned in a 28.31 to win the women's 50 back, just off her 10th-ranked season best of 28.23. Katie Avramova finished second in 29.23, while Charlotte McKenzie earned third in 29.69.
Rafael Munoz claimed the men's 50 fly in 23.94, short of his 10th-ranked season best of 23.66. Andrew Mayor placed second in 24.49, while Juan Miguel Rando touched third in 24.61.
Rebecca Adlington downed Hannah Miley in the women's 200 free, 1:59.34 to 2:00.82. Sasha Matthews touched third in 2:02.12. Miley returned in the women's 400 IM with a winning 4:37.24, off her third-ranked season best of 4:35.89. Mireia Belmonte placed second in 4:43.36, well off her top-ranked season best of 4:34.91. Claudia Dasca finished third in 4:49.23.
Judit Ignacio touched out Jessica Dickons by the slimmest of margins, 1:00.70 to 1:00.71, in the women's 100 fly. Jessica Sylvester finished third in 1:00.89. Ryan Bennett claimed the men's 100 free title in 50.60, while Robbie Renwick earned second in 50.71. Richard Shafers wound up third in 50.80.
Michael Jamieson dominated the men's 200 breast in 2:13.04, while Jamie Ross took second in 2:16.19. Andrew Rodgie claimed third in 2:16.31. Martin Cremin won the men's 1500 free in 15:42.02. Stephen Milne (16:04.37) and William Jolly (16:13.13) completed the top three.
