NEW COMMIT: Las Vegas, Nevada freestyler Ellis “Ren” Prescott has handed his commitment to Catholic University as a member of the class of 2023, a huge pickup for the Cardinals.

Primarily a freestyler, Prescott does his club swimming with Sandpipers of Nevada and most recently competed at the Arizona Senior Open where he recorded four best times with his highest finish being a sixth-place showing in the mile. Over the past two seasons, he is a 10-time Nevada State Championship finalist and capped off a successful long course season with a fourth-place finish in the 400m free at Western Zone Seniors this past summer. A current senior at Palo Verde High School, Prescott is also a USA Swimming Sectional qualifier.

He told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce my commitment to Catholic University! The Cardinals provide me the best opportunity to swim with a great group of people and still pursue my academic goals. I look forward to joining a team committed to the community and the pursuit of excellence! Thanks to all who have helped me with getting to this point, especially Coach Michael Kinross from Sandpipers and Coach Waas from Catholic.”

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:44.20
  • 500 free – 4:39.94
  • 1000 free – 9:50.98
  • 1650 free – 16:19.28

When he suits up for Catholic during the upcoming 2019-20 season, Prescott will add his talents to a training group that’ll include James VerbyLenny Brown and Luke Nicholson. Prescott will make a huge impact, as his best 500 free and mile time would’ve won the 2019 Landmark Conference Championships.
