Sandpipers of Nevada’s Dylan Becker Will Join Brother at Utah for 2020-21 Season

NEW COMMIT: Dylan Becker of Las Vegas, Nevada, has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Utah for the 2020-21 season. His older brother, Nick Becker, is currently a freshman on the Utes’ roster.

A two-time U.S. Open qualifier, Becker does his club swimming with Sandpipers of Nevada and recently achieved eight lifetime bests at the KMSC Pro-Am meet in December after placing ninth in the mile at Winter Nationals. He earned five gold medals at the Western Zone Senior Championships this past summer. Also competing for Bishop Gorman High School, Becker placed fifth in the 100 back at the Nevada 4A State Championships during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

“I chose the University of Utah because of their supportive coaches, and close-knit team. I feel that coach Joe Dykstra and Michelle Lowry are invested in making my swimming goals a reality. I can’t wait to be a part of such an amazing team and university. GO UTES!”

His best times include:

  • 500 free: 4:36.93
  • 1000 free: 9:13.58
  • 1650 free: 15:40.65
  • 200 fly: 1:52.97
  • 400 IM: 4:01.40

When he arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024, Becker will add his talents to a training group that’ll include his brother, Tyler KlawiterRobby King and Benjamin Waterman.

Becker’s coach, Ronald Aitken, told Swimming World:

“Dylan Becker life long Sandpiper. I’m truly proud of his accomplishments through his age group years and into Senior Level swimming. His progression to the college level shows his perseverance, dedication and compassion for the sport of swimming!”
