NEW COMMIT: Las Vegas, Nevada native Caleb Gould has announced his commitment to Brigham Young University and will arrive in Provo, Utah, in the fall of 2020.

Gould, who owns three Junior National standards and one U.S. Open cut, does his club swimming with Sandpipers of Nevada and recently registered six top-8 finishes at the Pro-Am Classic in December. This past summer, he earned three gold medals at Western Zone Seniors and is also an Open Water medalist.

Also competing for Spring Valley High School, Gould is a three-time Nevada 4A State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed second in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 fly as a junior while earning bronze in the 500 free during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

“I am very excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at BYU. I would like to thank my parents and coaches for helping me through this exciting process. BYU has a great coaching staff, charismatic team, and beautiful campus. I can’t wait to be apart of this wonderful team. GO COUGS!”

His best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:35.57
  • 1000 free – 9:24.31
  • 1650 free – 15:39.08
  • 200 fly – 1:52.60
  • 200 IM – 1:53.51
  • 400 IM – 4:00.02

Gould will make an immediate impact in the distance freestyle events when he suits up for the Cougars as a member of the class of 2024. His best mile time would’ve placed fifth at the 2019 Mountain Pacific Sport Federation Championships and his personal bests already rank near the top of BYU’s lineup.
