NEW COMMIT: Lafayette, Calif. native Emily Gebhardt has announced her in-state verbal for the fall of 2019 to San Diego State University.

Gebhardt does her club swimming with Orinda Aquatics and capped off her summer long course season with four personal bests at the Western Zone Senior Championships. She raced four events at Juniors West last winter and was a two-time finalist at Carlsbad Speedo Sectionals in March. Gebhardt competed for Acalanes High School at the CIF State Championships as a junior after placing fifth in the 100 fly and tenth in the 100 free at CIF-North Coast Sections a week prior.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at San Diego State University in the fall. I would like to thank my coaches, family, and teammates for helping me achieve my goals, and supporting me throughout the process. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait for the next 4 years! Go Aztecs!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.72
  • 100 free – 51.94
  • 100 fly – 55.34
  • 200 fly – 2:05.43

When she suits up for the Aztecs as a member of the class of 2023, she’ll join a fly group that includes Courtney Vincent and McKenna Meyer. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 fly and the C-final of the 200 fly at the 2018 Mountain West Championships where San Diego State finished second overall in the team standings.
