NEW COMMIT: Sacramento, Calif. native Emma Peters has opted to stay in-state for her college career and has verbally committed to the University of San Diego beginning next fall.

Primarily a freestyler, Peters swims year-round with DART Swimming under head coach Brian Nabeta and most recently earned a pair of best times at Western Zones this past summer where she finished 24th in the 100m fly. Last winter, she raced four events at College Station Speedo Sectionals where she registered lifetime bests in the 50 free and 100 free.

Also competing for Saint Francis High School, Peters is a six-time CIF San Joaquin Sectional Championship finalist. She placed seventh in the 200 free and 11th in the 100 fly as a junior after finishing ninth in the 200 free and 12th in the 200 free during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“Beyond excited and humbled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of San Diego. Huge thank you to my family, friends and coaches who have supported me throughout my journey. Go Toreros!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.33
  • 100 free – 52.52
  • 200 free – 1:54.20
  • 500 free – 5:10.95

When she suits up for the Toreros as a member of the class of 2024, Peters will add her talents to a freestyle group that’ll include Haley Ohlson, Rachel Hubka and Alexa Phillips. She also would’ve scored in the C-final of the 200 free at the 2019 MPSF Championships.
