Salcedo Sets South American Record in 100 Breaststroke

ALMERIA, Spain, July 19. JAVIERA Salcedo, representing Argentina, recently established a South American record in the 100-meter breaststroke when she clocked 1:11.80 while competing at the Spanish Championships. Salcedo resides in Barcelona and represents Club Natacion San Andreu. Her effort in the 100 breast was good for a bronze medal.

Colombia’s Isabel Ceballos held the former standard of 1:11.90, registered at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. Aside from setting a South American record in the 100 breast, Salcedo earned a silver medal in the 50 breast and was fourth in the 200 breast. In March, she swept the breast events at the South American Senior Championships.
