Saint Louis Sweeps Eastern Illinois
ST. LOUIS, Missouri, November 16. JUNIOR Tim Adams enjoyed a record-setting performance in the 100 breaststroke in leading the Saint Louis men's swimming and diving team to a 142-95 victory over Eastern Illinois. On the women's side, the Billikens also came away with the win as they downed the Panthers 173-70 to extend their dual-meet winning streak to 42. Both the men's and women's teams are 7-0 in dual meets this season.
Adams, who set the previous Billiken standard (59.71) in the 100 breast at the 2006 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships, stole the show with a 59.58 in the event. Meanwhile, Kevin Parker clocked the second best time in SLU annals in the 100 back with a 52.44.
Elena Ramirez continued to pace the women's team with a pair of wins. She swam a 56.15 in the 100 fly, good enough for No. 2 on the SLU career charts. Ramirez also won the 100 breast in a personal best 1:05.25, the third best time by a Billiken. The sophomore also swam the second leg on Saint Louis' winning 200 medley relay team.
Anna Larson was the only other double winner for the Bills in individual events on Thursday evening. The rookie led the women's divers, who claimed the first four places on the three-meter, with 236.40. Prior to that, Larson won the one-meter event with 234.40 points.
