While swimming at the 2016 California June Age Group Championships Ronald Dalmacio of Rose Bowl Aquatics cranked out a 27.88 50-meter backstroke to take down the existing 11-12 50 Back National Age Group record by more than half a second.
The former record was set at a 28.41 by Kevin Kyi, a monumental swim at the time as it broke the seven-year-old record of 28.49 set by Seth Beer.
Dalmacio holds multiple other NAG records:
- 10 and under 50-M back (30.95)
- 10 and under 100-M back (1:07.40)
- 10 and under 50-Y back (26.91)
- 10 and under 100-Y back (58.62)
- 10 and under 100-Y IM (1:01.21)
Dalmacio’s time today was swum as part of a time trial after he posted a prelims time of 29.28 and a finals time of 28.42.
Just to clarify a bit – His time coming into the meet was 29.28, his timed final race swim was 28.42, and then broke the record on a 200 Medley Relay later in the session.
Of note, Seth Beer just named ACC baseball mvp playing at Clemson. What an athlete!
