Rikke Moller Pedersen Cranks Out FINA A Cut in 200 Breast
Rikke Moller Pedersen crushed the women’s 200-meter breaststroke finale at the 2016 Danish Open en route to a FINA A cut time.
Pedersen won the finale in a time of 2:24.86, well under the FINA A cut of 2:26.94 to punch her ticket to Rio.
Anna Wermuth placed well behind with a second-place 2:33.26, while Sara Krog Christoffersen finished third in 2:33.99.
Paul Biedermann won the men’s 200-meter freestyle finale with a time of 1:47.37, while Anders Lie took second in 1:48.29. Daniel Skaaning finished third overall in 1:49.10.
Soren Dahl (1:49.12) and Magnus Westermann (1:49.20), meanwhile, set themselves up to make the Danish Olympic team as part of the 800 free relay.
Biedermann’s time cleared the FINA A cut of 1:47.97 in the process.
Monique Oliver won the women’s 400-meter free in 4:15.95 with Lisa Steen Duus taking second in 4:18.86. Anina Nicole Lund wound up third in 4:20.00.
Viktor Bromer took home the men’s 100-meter fly title in 53.09 with Magnus Jakupsson earning second in 54.57. Magnus Sloth Poulsen finished third in a time of 54.71.
George Bovell topped the men’s 50-meter breast title in 28.01 with Tobias Bjerg earning second in 28.30. Christian Rasmussen placed third in 28.78.
Sarah Bro won the women’s 200-meter back in 2:14.26. Anna Brandt Nielsen took second in 2:17.84 with Laura Glerup Jensen taking third in 2:18.53.
