Rhode Island High School State Swimming Championships

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island, February 25. LASALLE Academy walked away with the state the RIIL Girls High School State Championships. LaSalle scored 300.5 points, followed by Narragansett (237) and Prout (205). On the boys' side, Bishop Hendricken took first (315) while Barrington and East Greenwich placed second (276) and third (212) respectively.
Girls Results
Prout's Caitlin Gever, Laura Sogar, Ashley Fitzsimmons, and Natalie Joseph won the 200 medley (1:49.55) and 400 freestyle (3:40.27) relays. Joseph also won the 200 freestyle (1:57.54).
Sogar had individual wins in the 100 butterfly (55.36) and the 100 breaststroke (1:00.71).
North Kingstown's Elizabeth Beisel won the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke with times of 1:57.46 and 53.66 respectively.
Bianca Spinazzola (Narragansett) won the 100 (53.57) and 500 (5:12.13) freestyles. She teamed up with Chelsea Dentler, Annie Carther, and Katie Degnan for a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.08).
Boys Results
The team of Jordon Santanna, Dan Lavey, Paul Gemma, and George Koutros (LaSalle) had a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:41.53).
Senior Kevin Sun (South Kingstown) took first in the 50 freestyle (21.42) and the 100 butterfly (50.51).
East Greenwich's Jeff Winters won the 100 (46.66) and 200 (1:42.66) freestyles. He joined Alex Kurose, Greg Passa, and Tom Paradise for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:31.34).
Paolo DeLuca (LaSalle) won the 200 IM (1:56.22) and the 100 breaststroke (56.38).
Paradise, Mike Pallini, Kurose, and Winters closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:21.60).
