Swimming at the 2018 Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships Penn Charter’s Reece Whitley has broken two National High School records.
In Friday evening’s finals of the 200 IM Whitley clocked a 1:43.55 to set the National Independent School record. He was nearly a second and a half faster than the old mark, a 1:44.90 set by Curtis Ogren in California in 2014. David Nolan still holds the public school and overall mark of 1:41.39 swum in 2011.

Whitley returned on Saturday morning to swim prelims of the 100 breaststroke. There he touched in 51.68, lowering his own National Independent School mark of 51.84, swum at this meet last year. Whitley came up just shy of Max McHugh‘s brand new public school, and overall, national record of 51.62. Whitley will have a chance to chase that mark in tonight’s finals.
