Race Video: Watch Miriam Sheehan Smoke 10-and-Under 100-Yard Fly National Age Group Record
Miriam Sheehan of the Phoenix Swim Club raced her way to the 100-yard fly 10-and-under National Age Group record during her final meet as a 10-year-old.
Sheehan clocked a time of 59.67 to clip another of Regan Smith’s records (59.80).
Original report on 100 fly:
Just one day after surpassing Regan Smith’s 100 backstroke record, Miriam Sheehan of the Phoenix Swim Club snagged her ninth National Age Group record as a 10-year old. Although she turned 11 on the day of this swim, she still was technically a 10-year-old for USA Swimming’s record purposes.
While swimming at the 2015 Fall Meet #1 at PSC Sheehan turned in a sizzling time of 59.67 in the 100-yard fly, shaving 1.01 seconds off her seed time of 1:00.68. Sheehan split a 27.90 on the first 50 and finished the race with a 31.77 split for her final time.
Sheehan’s time bypasses Reagan Smith’s time of 59.80 from 2013.
