Race Video: Miriam Sheehan Nabs Another 10&Under National Age Group Record
Miriam Sheehan of the Phoenix Swim Club took down another 10&under U.S. national age group record this weekend in Mesa, Ariz.
Swimming at the Kino Aquatic Center, Sheehan hit the wall in 27.27 to break the 50-yard backstroke record. that swim cleared the previous mark of 27.79 set by Regan Smith in 2013.
Smith still owns the 100-yard back record with a 59.89 and also wound up breaking both of the 50 and 100-yard back records in the 11-12 division in 2014.
Sheehan not only won the 50-yard back at the Quad Series Dual meet in Mesa, she also has wins in the 50-yard free with a 25.75 and a 5:41.33 in the 500-yard free.
She is within striking distance of breaking the 10&under 50-yard free record of 24.90 shared by Lia Neal and Zoe Skirboll.
Sheehan continues to run roughshod over the national age group records, having set records in long course in the 50 free, 50 and 100 back, 50 and 100 fly. She also set the 50-yard fly this year.
