In this morning’s preliminary action at the 2016 British Nationals Adam Peaty posted a 58.74 to lead qualifying efforts in the 100 breaststroke.
That time was less than a second from his own World Record of 57.92. This swim makes him the only swimmer under the 59 second mark in 2016.
The next closes competitor on the world stage is Cameron van der Burgh with a 59.61 earlier this week.
Peaty will swim the race in finals tonight to earn his 2016 Olympic berth in the event.
