NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has earned a new in-state verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from current high school junior Collin Fuchs of Spring, Texas.

Fuchs, who owns the U.S. Open standard in the 200 back with a trio of Summer Juniors standards, does his club swimming with Premier Aquatics Club of Klein and most recently finaled in the 50m/100m back at the Richmond TYR Pro Swim Series. He recorded a pair of best times at Junior West in December after taking eighth in the 200 free at Gulf Southern Seniors.

This past summer, he placed fourth in both the 50m back and 200m back at Southern Zone Seniors. Also competing for Klein Oak High School, Fuchs finished sixth in the 100 back at the Texas UIL 6A Championships during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University! So thankful for my family, friends, coaches and teammates who have helped me get to where I am today. I knew A&M was the place for me once I stepped foot on the campus. I loved the team environment, the coaching staff and their training philosophies. Gigem!”

His best times include:

  • 100 back – 49.16
  • 200 back – 1:46.63
  • 50 free – 21.55
  • 100 free – 45.12
  • 200 free – 1:40.79

Fuchs has made significant improvements over the past two years, dropping six seconds in the 100 back and 16 seconds in the 200 back. He will add valuable backstroke and sprint freestyle depth to the Aggies’ roster when he arrives in College Station as a member of the class of 2024.
