NEW COMMIT: The Boilermakers have earned a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2019, this time from Corrales, New Mexico’s Keelan Hart.

Hart swims year-round for Charger Aquatics under head coach Tom Cyprus and has achieved the U.S. Open standard in the 100m free. He most recently raced at Junior Nationals where he recorded a trio of lifetime bests and finaled in the 100m free. He competed at Juniors West last winter and notched 100% best times and in addition to posting three top-15 finishes at Federal Way Speedo Sectionals.

Also swimming for Cibola High School, Hart had a very successful NMAA State Championship meet during his junior season. He won the 100 free and was the 200 free runner-up while leading off his team’s second-place 4×50 free relay team. He has earned NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts.

He told Swimming World:

“I am proud to announce my verbal commitment to Purdue University. Every aspect of the school-from its coaches, staff, and team, to its facilities, academic programs and rich history-is phenomenal. I am grateful to my coaches, teammates, family and friends for their years of support and encouragement. Boiler Up!”

His best times include:

  • 50 free -21.10
  • 100 free – 44.70
  • 200 free – 1:39.15
  • 500 free – 4:37.54

Hart will add valuable depth when he arrives in West Lafayette as a member of the class of 2023. Although his best times sit just outside of scoring range at the Big Ten Championships, he will look to translate his recent long course success with a year of club swimming still to go. Under head coach Dan Ross, Purdue finished fourth in the team standings at last season’s conference meet.
