NEW COMMIT: Raleigh, N.C. native Seth Brodnick has handed Providence College their first verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond.

He told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Providence College. I want to thank my teammates, family, and friends for helping me throughout the process. Go Friars!”

A talented freestyle, Brodnick does his club swimming with Marlins of Raleigh and most recently earned five best times at the TAC Titans time trials earlier this month. He finished 14th in the mile at Cary Sectionals in March and placed 21st in the 1000 free at NC Seniors in February.

Last summer, Brodnick recorded four lifetime bests at North Carolina LCM Seniors where he raced to 22nd place in the 800m free.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:44.91
  • 500 free – 4:42.48
  • 1000 free – 9:45.51
  • 1650 free – 16:22.64

Also competing for Leesville Road High School, Brodnick placed 14th in the 200 free and 16th in the 500 free as a junior at the North Carolina 4A State Championships. He also is a four-time NCHSAA 4A Eastern Regional Championship finalist, winning the 200 free and taking fifth in the 500 free in 2020.

Brodnick will add valuable distance freestyle depth when he suits up for the Friars as a member of the class of 2025. He’ll join a training group led by Justin Viotto, who was Providence’s only swimmer in the mile at the 2020 Big East Championships.
