On the Cover

Every coach wants swimmers who have a “feel for the water.” Teaching them to have it is quite another story. It has been conceded by some that such feel is a gift and that an athlete either has it or he doesn’t. Not so, says Cecil Colwin. By teaching athletes what to feel for, rather than trying to teach them how their stroke should look, Colwin says swimmers can pick up the subtie language of the water and learn to control it. Colwin talks about his latest ideas and how to implement them in a story beginning on page 10.
