NEW COMMIT: Two time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Vivian Wang has verbally committed to swim for Princeton University beginning next fall. Wang, who swims for PEAK Swimming is Saratoga, California, is a senior at Harker School. She’s an all around versatile talent who owns all but three of her high school’s records. She’s been awarded the most valuable award for her school and her league for each of the past three years.

Wang is a truly versatile swimmer, earning a minimum of 835 USA Swimming power points in every event except for distance freestyles. Her top times include:

  • 200 IM 2:00.25
  • 400 IM 4:19.68
  • 100 Breast 1:01.61
  • 200 Breast 2:15.42
  • 100 Fly 54.31
  • 200 Fly 2:02.70
  • 100 Back 55.40
  • 200 Back 2:00.72
  • 50 Free 23.30
  • 100 Free 50.39
  • 200 Free 1:48.34
  • 500 Free 4:58.15

While her top IM times were set when Wang was 14, most of the rest of her lifetime bests were set last spring. She’ll offer the Tigers a number of options when she gets to New Jersey next fall.

Based purely on point scoring potential in the Ivy League, Wang would likely swim the 200 IM, where her best time would make her an A finalist, while she’d be a C finalist in the 50 and 500 frees. Her day three options are endless, where her best 200 fly, 200 free, and 100 breast times land her in the A final, and her top 400 IM and 100 back times are B final worthy. On the final day of Ivies, she could be looking at an A final performance in the 200 breast. At last year’s meet, she also would have placed in the B final of the 200 back, 200 fly, and 100 free with her lifetime bests.

She said of her decision,

“I chose Princeton University because it has the perfect balance between school and swimming. I will be able to pursue my swimming career while studying at one of the best academic institutes in the world. The girls on the team are all very kindhearted and supportive of each other which made me feel like it was the perfect fit. I cannot wait to work with Coach Bret and Coach Robin because they are both super awesome and amazing! GO TIGERS!!!!!!!”
