This week’s Performance of the Week goes to Brazilian Nicholas Santos for his world record in the 50 butterfly at the Budapest stop of the 2018 FINA World Cup.

The Brazilian became just the fourth man to swim under 22 seconds in the short course 50 butterfly, hitting the wall in 21.75 to break Steffen Diebler’s old mark of 21.80. That record was set way back in 2009, at the World Cup in Berlin at the height of the supersuit era.

Santos, who is a veteran of the sport at 38-years-old, had tied his own Brazilian record in Eindhoven last week with a 22.08, making this a massive 3-tenths drop in just a week’s time and earning him a $10,000 world record bonus. You can see a video of Santos swim below:

Congratulations Nicholas Santos on earning Swimming World’s Performance of the Week!
