Penn State Picks Up Verbal From Maddie Cooke

The Penn State Nittany Lions have added another verbal commitment to the Class to 2021. Breaststroker Maddie Cooke has pledged her verbal commitment to the team.

Cooke shared,

“I am SO excited to announce that I have verbally committed to further my education and swimming career at Penn State University!! I chose Penn State because of the outstanding coaching staff, the immediate connection I felt with the team, as well as the world class education that I will receive. I also want to thank all my coaches, family, friends, and most importantly teammates that have never stopped believing in me and helped to make my dreams come true!! I cannot wait be a NittanyLion…WE ARE!!!!!”

Her best times are:

  • 100 Breast 1:02.83
  • 200 Breast 2:20.73
  • 50 Free 23.30
  • 100 Free 51.85

Cooke trains under Coach Charlie Kennedy with the Suburban Seahawks in Newton Square, PA. She is a two time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a three time NISCA All-American. While swimming for the Phoenixville Area YMCA, Cooke was a three time top eight finisher in the 100 breaststroke at YMCA Nationals. She was also a member of two different medley relays that finished in the top three. On the high school level, while competing for Phoenixville Area High School, Cooke finished third in the 50 free in 2014 and 2015 and was the 2014 runner up in the 100 breaststroke.

She’ll join a Penn State class that includes Jane Donahue, Carly Hart, and Camryn Barry.
