Penn Quakers Pick Up Verbal from Sprinter Nick Malchow of Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club

NEW COMMIT: Greenwich, Conn. native Nick Malchow has given his verbal commitment* to the University of Pennsylvania beginning in the fall of 2021.

He will join Luke Williams, Michael Foley, and Aaron Rosen as well as U.S. National Junior Teamer Matthew Fallon as a member of the Quakers’ class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“Very excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Pennsylvania! Go Quakers!”

A talented sprinter, Malchow does his club swimming with Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and earned three best times at the NCAP Invitational in December and raced four events at Ithaca Sectionals in March 2019. Last summer, he placed fourth in both the 50m and 100m free at ISCA TYR Summer Seniors.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.36
  • 100 free – 47.15
  • 200 free – 1:44.65
  • 100 fly – 53.39
  • 100 back – 52.30

A rising senior at Greenwich High School, Malchow is a three-time Connecticut Open State Championship finalist. He raced to fourth in both the 50 free and 100 free as a sophomore while taking 14th in the 100 back during his freshman season.
