NEW COMMIT: Windermere, Fla. native Jenessa Schwarz has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Pennsylvania beginning in the fall of 2020.*

Primarily a sprint freestyler and breaststroker, Schwarz does her club swimming with Trinity Prep Aquatics under head coach Rocco Aceto. She most recently earned a trio of best times this past summer at the Georgia Open where her highest finish was a fifth-place showing in both the 100m breast and 200m breast. Last winter, she raced three events at Juniors East and won the 100 breast at the Southern Premier Invitational.

Also competing for Trinity Prep School, Schwarz is a five-time Florida 1A State Championship finalist. She was the 100 breast runner-up and took seventh in the 100 free as a junior after finishing fifth and eighth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Pennsylvania! Thank you for all the encouragement and support from my coaches, family, friends, and teammates that have helped me get to this point. I would especially like to thank Coach Rocco Aceto for his excellence in coaching and helping me become the person I am today. He has been an incredible coach and mentor throughout my swimming career. I can’t thank him enough for all he has done for me and the life lessons he has taught me. I am looking forward to swimming at the University of Pennsylvania for Coach Schnur and the amazing swim team. Go Quakers!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.77
  • 100 free – 51.72
  • 50 breast – 30.68
  • 100 breast – 1:03.48
  • 200 breast – 2:23.77

When she suits up for the Quakers as a member of the class of 2024, Schwarz will add valuable breaststroke depth to their lineup. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 breast as well as the C-final of the 200 breast at the 2019 Ivy League Championships where Penn finished fifth overall in the team standings.
