NEW COMMIT: Pearland, Texas native and current high school senior Hannah Bellina has verbally committed to Louisiana State University and will arrive in Baton Rouge in the fall of 2020.

Bellina, who owns five Summer Juniors standards, swims year-round with Pearland Aquatics under head coach John Burke. Last winter, she raced three events at Juniors West before going on to place fifth in the 200 IM and ninth in the 400 IM at College Station Speedo Sectionals.

Also competing for Pearland High School, Bellina is a three-time Texas UIL 6A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished sixth in the 100 fly and eighth in the 200 IM as a junior after finishing 11th in the 500 free during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and further my education at Louisiana State University. I grew up attending LSU baseball and football games, so I immediately felt at home when I visited campus. I fell in love with the swimmers and coaching staff, and its because of them that I am excited to represent a team that has always had a special place in my heart. Geaux Tigers”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 54.88
  • 200 fly – 2:02.10
  • 200 IM – 2:02.22
  • 400 IM – 4:22.20
  • 200 free 1:49.13

Bellina will add valuable depth to the Tigers’ fly and IM training groups when she suits up for them at the start of the 2020-21 season. Although she’s just on the outskirts of scoring range in both fly events as well as both IMs at the SEC Championships, she had continuously made improvements each season with a year of club swimming still to go before arriving at LSU.
