NEW COMMIT: Liberty University has gained a new verbal commitment from Allison Park, Pa. native Morgan Stormer. She will join the Flames as a member of the class of 2023 and plans to pursue a mechanical engineering degree.

Stormer swims year-round with Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics for Chris Ogden and is also furthering her training with Team USA 1992 Olympic coach Nick Baker and six-time Olympic coach Mark Temple. She capped off her long course season by racing a trio of events at Eastern Zone Seniors and had a pair of best times at the PEAQ Summer Championships. She also won the 100 free at Middle Atlantic Junior Olympics. A current senior at Hampton High School, Stormer swam during her freshman and sophomore years and was a member of the school record-setting 4×100 free relay.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to Liberty University starting the fall of 2019. Liberty just feels right. The opportunity to swim at such a respected University is a blessing. I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, and parents for the unyielding support they have provided. Liberty has everything I need to improve as a student athlete. The facilities -which include an Olympic pool, impressive weight room, and a world-class athletic complex-, are the very best for continuing my swimming journey. Coupled with the guidance of their tremendous staff, this university exceeds every standard not only for enriching my academic goals but also my spiritual pursuits. Go Flames!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.52
  • 100 free – 53.96
  • 200 free – 1:59.23

Stormer will join a sprint training group led by Hannah Baker and Colleen Donlin when she arrives on campus next fall. She will also join Eva Suggs as a member of the class of 2023.
