Papua New Guinea Sending 8 to Oceania Championships
Papua New Guinea will send a roster of eight swimmers to the 2016 Oceania Championships.
Veteran Ryan Pini leads a fairly young group of athletes. Pini is a three time Olympian, including the first from Papua New Guinea to ever compete in an Olympic final. The 34 year old finished eighth in the 100 butterfly at the 2008 Games.
Ashley Seeto is the other veteran of this team, at 28 years old. He currently holds the national record in the long course 50 breaststroke.
Sixteen year old Leonard Kalate and a pair of 17 year olds, Ryan Maskelyne and Shanice Paraka, are the youngest on the team.
Barbara Vali-Skelton, the national record holder in the 50 and 100 breaststrokes is also on the roster, as is 200 IM national record holder Stanford Kawale.
Leonard Kalate and Samuel Seghers complete the group.
Rob Van Der Zant will serve as the coach for the meet.
The meet takes place in Fiji next month.
