NEW COMMIT: Georgetown University has received a new verbal pledge from Moraga, Calif. freestyler Sean Percin who will make the move to D.C. next fall.

Percin swims year-round with Orinda Aquatics and has met the Winter Juniors standard in the 400m free. He notched a pair of best times and finished eighth in the 400m free at Western Zone Seniors this summer after achieving 100% lifetime bests at Far Westerns. He placed third in the 1000 free at the WCAB Senior Winter Championships last December and had a trio of top-25 finishes at Carlsbad Speedo Sectionals in March. Also swimming for Campolindo High School, Percin competed at the CIF State Championships as a junior after finishing tenth in the 500 free and 13th in the 200 free at CIF North Coast Sections a week prior.

He told Swimming World:

“I am stoked to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Georgetown University and honored to be part of such an amazing team and community. Thank you to my parents and sister, and also my Orinda Aquatics community of awesome coaches, teammates, and parents who have helped me get this far. I am excited to do great things in the next 4 years. Hoya Saxa!”

His best times include:

  • 100 free – 46.62
  • 200 free – 1:41.49
  • 500 free – 4:36.02
  • 1000 free – 9:38.29

When he arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2023, Percin will join a freestyle training group that includes Brett Sherman and Michael Wheeler. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100, 200 and 500 freestyles at the 2018 Big East Championships where the Hoyas finished third in the team standings.
