NEW COMMIT: Oakland, Calif. native Jackson Masson has announced his verbal commitment to swim for Whitman College as a member of the class of 2023.

Masson does his club swimming with Orinda Aquatics and most recently competed at the WCAB Senior Winter Championships where he was a four-time finalist and had his highest finish be a fifth-place showing in the 100 fly. He raced three events at Western Zone Seniors in August and was a key relay swimmer for Head-Royce School at the CIF-North Coast Section Championships as a junior.

He told Swimming World:

“I would like to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at Whitman College. Thank you to my family, coaches and friends who have helped get me to this point. Go Blues!”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.78
  • 100 free – 49.65
  • 200 free – 1:53.60
  • 100 fly – 54.26

When he suits up for Whitman next fall, he will join a sprint group led by Easton Powell and a fly group that includes Michael Chang. His best 100 fly time would’ve scored in the B-final at the 2018 Northwest Conference Championships where Whitman finished second overall in the team standings.
