Oregon 6A High School State Championships

GRESHAM, Oregon, March 3. JESUIT won the Oregon 6A High School Girls State Championships with 134 points, followed closely by David Douglas (129) and St. Mary’s Academy (121). Westview took first (151), South Eugene placed second (134), and Jesuit finished third (120) for the boys.

Girls Results
Ellena Basada, Kara Stranski, Mary Byers, and Kayla Alf-Huynh opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:48.36). Stranski also won the 50 freestyle (1:23.67).

Megan McCarroll of Jesuit had individual wins in the 200 IM (2:05.32) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.97).

Sophomore Kaylin Bing (Roseburg) won the 100 butterfly (55.60) and the 100 backstroke (56.61).

David Douglas’s Laura Miller won the 200 freestyle (1:49.23). She set a state record in the 100 freestyle (50.11) as well. Miller teamed up with freshmen Emma Redwine-Hixon, Ally Olson, and Nikki Overton for first-place finishes in the 200 (1:37.90) and 400 (3:34.54) freestyle relays.

Boys Results
Junior Steven Ung (Westview) had an individual win in the 200 freestyle (1:41.70). He joined Filip Kapelax, Jonathan Yuan, and Morgon Henderson-Kunz for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:26.31).

Henderson-Kunz also won the 50 and 100 (43.70) freestyles. He set a state record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.32.

South Eugene’s 200 medley relay (Aaron Bishow, Sam Rowan, Seth Hodsdon, and James Gilmore) clocked a time of 1:36.98 for a first-place finish. Rowan also set a state record in the 100 breaststroke (56.51).

Central Catholic’s Will Gunderson won the 200 IM (1:49.88) and the 100 butterfly (49.38).

Ung, Conor Arcuri, Yuan, and Henderson-Kunz closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:10.63).
