Oregon 5A High School State Championships

GRESHAM, Oregon, February 21. CRESCENT Valley and Summit walked away with state titles at the Oregon 5A High School State Championships. On the girls' side, Crescent Valley scored 99 points for first followed by Summit (44) and Willamette (34). Meanwhile, the Summit boys won with 65 points, Hillsboro took second (55), and Crescent Valley placed third (49).

Girls Results
Crescent Valley won all three relays. Claire Krizan, Jordan Iverson, Hali Barkdoll, and Lauren Allen set a meet record with a time of 1:48.48. Barkdoll also won the 100 butterfly in 58.29. She surpassed the previous meet record (58.52) set by Hillsboro's Jodie Ellis in 2008.

Williamette's Kaila Lee was a dual event winner in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. She set meet records with times of 23.26 and 55.87, respectively. The previous 100 backstroke record (56.29) was set by Mountain View's Kristyn Deckard last year.

Erika Twenge, Krizan, Meredith Wells, and Barkdoll teamed up for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.53).

Allen had individual wins in the 200 (1:55.17) and 500 (5:10.18) freestyles while her teammate, Iverson, won the 100 freestyle (52.82) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.31). Both girls joined Twenge and Wells for a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:38.65).

Boys Results
Summit's Nic Morrell, Aidan Soles, Mason Allen, and David Hopkins won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:40.06. Morrell also won the 200 freestyle in 1:41.31.

Allen, a senior, was a dual event winner in the 100 butterfly (51.40) and the 100 breaststroke (1:00.28).

Aaron Young of Hillsboro had individual wins in the 50 freestyle (21.71) and the 100 backstroke (50.83). He teamed up with Tomas Mendez-Beck, Kyle Butcher and Anhton Tran for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:29.26).

Other top finishers include Mark Guyler (Wilsonville) in the 200 IM (1:57.42), Ian McPherson (Crescent Valley) in the 100 freestyle (47.94), and Paul Hartmeier (Summit) in the 500 freestyle (4:44.11).

Mendez-Beck, Butcher, Tran, and Young closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:15.72).
