Olympic Trials Qualifier Reese Lugbill Verbally Commits to Notre Dame

NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has picked up a new verbal pledge for the 2021-22 season from Mason, Ohio native Reese Lugbill.

Her twin sister, Ashley Lugbill, recently announced her verbal commitment to Southern Methodist.

She will join Madison Feehery, Annie BehmMadelyn ChristmanAna HercegJess GerianeMadeline MenkhausSophia KarrasMary Cate Pruitt and Maggie Graves as a member of the Fighting Irish’s class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of Notre Dame!! Thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates who helped me get to this point! Can’t wait! Go Irish☘️”

A talented breaststroker and IMer, Lugbill owns several Junior National standards with the Olympic Trials cut in the 200m breast. She most recently had three top-8 finishes at the Southern Premier Invitational and finaled in the 400 IM at Juniors East. Last summer, she placed 17th in the 200m breast at Junior Nationals in a new lifetime best.

She does her club swimming with Mason Manta Rays.

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 29.69
  • 100 breast – 1:02.60
  • 200 breast – 2:16.37
  • 200 IM – 2:01.91
  • 400 IM – 4:21.46

Also competing for Mason High School, Lugbill is a six-time Ohio State Championship finalist. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed fourth in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 breast as a junior while taking third and fourth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

Under head coach Michael Litzinger, the Fighting Irish finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 ACC Championships.
