NEW COMMIT: Appleton, Wis. native Mollie Brackett has handed her verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond to Ohio University.

A talented sprinter, Brackett swims year-round with the Fox Valley Wave Swim Team and most recently competed at the Wisconsin LCM Championships where she had a trio of top-15 finishes. Last winter, she finished ninth in the 50 free at the Wisconsin SCY Championships before going on to race three events at Rochester Speedo Sectionals. Also competing for Appleton North, Brackett has raced at the Wisconsin DI State Championships each of her high school seasons thus far. During her rookie campaign, she recorded her highest finish at the state level with a ninth-place showing in the 100 fly.

She told Swimming World:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Ohio University. I would like to thank my coaches, family, teammates, and friends who has supported me over the years! OU, Oh yeah! Go Bobcats!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.06
  • 50 back – 27.03
  • 100 back – 57.22
  • 50 fly – 26.09
  • 100 fly – 56.63

When she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024, Brackett will add much-needed fly and back depth to Ohio’s lineup and will join training groups led by Athena Aravantinou and Kendra Sheehan. Although she’s just shy of scoring range at the MAC Championships, she has continuously made improvements each season with a year to go before suiting up for the Bobcats.
